March 2 - 4
Affording Difference : Workshop
with composers and persons of
other abilities
with the team of 6 composers: Andreas Bergsland, Andrea Cera, Giacomo Lepri, Marcello Lussano, Pablo Palacio, Ives Schachtschabel.
Each composer will present their interactive environment and each will be available for persons with and without
disabilities to experience.
How can we remove barriers to expression, joy and inclusion? How can we expand gestural expression, range of movement, and emotional expression?
How can we promote a positive awareness of difference, away from normative expressions? This 3 days workshop will focus on applications of interactive technology with persons of other abilities and explore different ways to make music with movements. 6 composers, a workshop leader and a choreographer will propose different approaches of interaction, using motion tracking technology (including video-based and controller-based systems), dance and music.
**this workshop is designed for persons with disabilities or without disabilities in collaboration with Lebenshilfewerk Apolda and Tröbsdorf.

"""Affording Differences Workshop"" will focus on work with composers and persons with disabilties, with different sensorial and social experiences. There are six studios, each dedicated to a different interactive musical enivronment and a different approach on interaction. During the workshop, we will schedule a time for each composer to present their approach."
"""Open Studio"" is intend as an open sharing of ideas, expertise and space. Collaboration with composers, experimental laboratory, on-going research, final architecture... 6 composers will be part of it until the 4th.
The rooms are large enough for more than one project to be happening at the same time."

18:30-20:00 PERFORMNANCES
WEZEN - GEWORDING - Marije Baalman (STEIM)
Wezen is a solo music-theatre work where Marije Baalman explores the relationship between theatrical gesture and musical instrument, between the body and the sonic world. Gewording (Becoming) is the first performance version where the link between physical and sonic gesture is explored during a live performance, combining movement of the body and live coding.

UNBALANCED STONES - Marcello Lussana and Oscar Palou
The sound of swinging rocks is used in a live performance context, exploring the sound of stones moving on a surface, revealing the rhythmic patterns that are hidden in their shapes. This sound events are processed in realtime, creating repetitive beats, organic/granular textures and ambient pads.

10.30-12.00 WORKSHOP part I
"AFFORDING PARADOXES: EMBODIED MINDS, PLANS AND SITUATED ACTIONS"
(Workshop from the unstable landscape series)
with Marlon Barrios Solano (VZ/USA/D)
total duration: 3 hours (in 2 parts; Saturday part II, time will be announced)
no registration needed / free of charge / open to everyone
@Bauhaus Hauptgebäude - 1st floor
This workshop is geared to explore the paradoxical dynamic complexities of awareness, body boundaries and embodied action/thoughts within knowledge and computational environments. They often imply re-trainings of perception thresholds, attention and care.
With mindfulness based activities, improvisational actions, compositional strategies and common network technologies, we will glimpse and enact our post-humanist condition as generative dramaturgies, inter-intra subjective activities and bottom-up performance architectures.
From stillness to expansive movement within ”mashup spaces" we will inquire about the role of intention, the aesthetics of change, agency, autonomy and control within hybrid intersubjective movement based generative spaces.
